Decentralized Schools

The internet is the modern way of learning.

Children are replacing schools for the internet and we should embrace that.

There’s a common trajectory that is seen nowadays among children and young adults: They surf the internet, find something interesting, gets on YouTube, build the basics, and if they’re interested enough proceeds to advanced courses. And therefore building a skill based on their choice and no one else.

Online or Offline, I believe this is way to go. And it seems like common sense. But lets focus on online aspect of things which is more relevant now.

Children are bored in schools because it is lagging behind, and even if they tried schools can’t catch to fast growth of the internet. Which is something the older generation should accept. Things don’t work the way they used to, and what worked for them may not work for us.

So what should schools do?

In my personal opinion, the primary objective of schools should not be teaching all the uneccessary things in hope may be used in the future, promising a good paying job, or even showing what career path to follow.

It should strive to prioritize basic life skills that everyone should have like, critical thinking, logic, making his own decisions, authenticity… and all of this without crushing his spirit, personality, self-interest and curiosity.

Basic math, reading and writing should be second priority… without ever forcing them to learn these- which may be hard, but is way easier that forcing them to learn and make them hate learning altogether.

I firmly believe that if children are let free to learn, they’ll learn what interests them much faster since all resources are already in front on them for free.
